Man Killed Over a football
On a darker note, on Sunday evening David Martin, 40, was brutally stabbed to death with a samurai sword in Mitchim South-West London…over a football, as his wife and children watched.
After asking for his son’s football back, David was attacked and beaten with cricket bats, metal poles and golf clubs, and then eventually died from a samurai stab wound.
It was later released that David’s father was also killed in an almost identical attack, trying to guard his son from a gang.
One witness said, “I have known David since he was a little boy. He was a lovely, decent bloke, always doing good in the community.”
Detective Inspector Stewart Kingston said: "At about 7.10pm on Sunday there was an argument between two parents over a game of football, which has tragically resulted in the death of a man.
A 14 year old girl and two women aged 69 and 41 were last night released on bail but a man of 37 and a woman of 41 are still being held in custody over the attack.
